How much do impact windows cost in Fort Myers?
Most windows run $850–$2,000 installed, and a whole house of 10 to 15 openings $12,000–$28,000. Here is where those numbers come from and what moves them at your address.
Prices last updated October 2026.
The short answer
Most Fort Myers homeowners pay $850–$1,500 per vinyl impact window or $1,100–$2,000 per aluminum one, installed, and $12,000–$28,000 to do a whole house of 10 to 15 openings. Impact sliding glass doors are priced separately and start around $2,500 for a standard two-panel opening.
Impact windows are not sold by the square foot like flooring. Each one is manufactured to the measurements of the hole in your wall, so the only honest way to answer this question for your address is to measure the openings. The ranges below are what the work actually goes for in Lee County, so you can sanity-check a quote before anyone comes out.
Every figure on this page is a researched market range for Fort Myers and Lee County, gathered from local installers and Florida pricing guides. It is here so you can judge a quote, and it is not an offer. Your own price comes from the free in-home measure and is given to you in writing.
Price per window, by frame material
Frame material is the first fork in the road, and it changes the price of every window in the house at once.
| Window | Installed price | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Vinyl, impact-rated, standard size | $850–$1,500 | Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, the bulk of most houses |
| Aluminum, impact-rated, standard size | $1,100–$2,000 | Slimmer frame, more glass, better on wide openings |
| Large, custom or shaped | $1,800–$3,200 | Picture windows, arches, anything over about 40 sq ft |
Vinyl is the volume choice across Lee County: it costs less, insulates better and holds color. Aluminum costs more per opening but carries a bigger piece of glass in a thinner frame, which matters when the window is the view. Plenty of houses end up with both.
Impact doors
Doors are the expensive openings, and on most Fort Myers homes the lanai slider is the single biggest piece of glass in the building. It is also the opening a storm is most likely to find.
| Door | Installed price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sliding glass door, 2 panel (about 6 ft) | $2,500–$4,500 | The standard lanai slider on a Fort Myers home |
| Sliding glass door, 3 panel (9–12 ft) | $4,500–$9,000 | Pool decks and great rooms; priced by width and panel count |
| Impact entry door | $2,200–$4,500 | Single door with or without sidelights |
| Impact French doors | $3,500–$7,000 | Pair of operating doors, usually rear or courtyard |
If the budget will not stretch to everything in one go, doors are usually the first thing we protect and the bedrooms are the last. A storm does not care which room it enters, but the largest opening is where the pressure does the most.
What a whole house comes to
Doing every opening at once costs less per window than doing them in stages: one permit, one mobilization, one inspection. It is also the only version that qualifies the house for a wind mitigation credit, because partial protection does not count.
| House | Openings | Whole-home range |
|---|---|---|
| Small single-family or villa | 8–10 windows, 1 slider | $9,000–$18,000 |
| Typical 1,500–2,200 sq ft home | 11–15 windows, 1–2 sliders | $12,000–$28,000 |
| Larger or two-story home | 16–20 windows, 2–3 sliders | $24,000–$45,000 |
| Condo unit | 4–8 openings | $6,000–$16,000 |
Work out a rough number for your own house
You can get within a few thousand dollars in about ten minutes:
- Count the windows. Walk the outside and count every window opening, not every pane. A single frame with three panes is one window.
- Count the doors separately. Sliders, French doors and the front door are their own line items.
- Multiply the windows by about $1,000 for mostly vinyl, or about $1,500 if you want aluminum and several large openings.
- Add the doors at roughly $3,500 for a standard slider and $3,000 for an entry door.
- Add about 5% for permit, inspection and the trim and stucco work around each opening.
That is a budget figure, not a quote. The free measure is what turns it into one number you can sign.
What moves the price
The size of the opening
Impact glass is laminated, so it is heavy, and the bigger the pane the stronger the frame and hardware have to be. Price climbs faster than area does. Two small windows almost always cost less than one window of the same total size.
The glass package
Clear laminated glass is the baseline. Low-E coating for heat, a gray or bronze tint for glare off the water, obscure glass for bathrooms and laminated-plus-insulated units for sound all add to the unit price. Low-E is the upgrade most Fort Myers houses feel.
Design pressure at your address
Lee County sits in Florida's wind-borne debris region, and the required design pressure rises the closer you are to open water. A house on the Caloosahatchee or out toward Fort Myers Beach needs a higher-rated product than the same house in Gateway, and the product has to carry a Florida approval for that pressure.
How the opening is put back together
Taking a window out damages the stucco, the interior trim and sometimes the drywall return. Making that good again is real labor. It is also the line most commonly missing from a quote that looks too good.
Access and floor level
Second-story openings, screened lanais that have to be opened up, and condo units with service-elevator rules all add hours. Nothing exotic, but it shows up in the number.
Why two Fort Myers quotes can be hundreds apart per window
Before you compare two prices, check they are quoting the same job. The usual gaps:
- The permit. Window and door replacement needs one here. If a quote does not mention it, ask who is pulling it.
- Florida product approval. The product needs a current approval or NOA for the design pressure at your address. Ask for the number, in writing.
- Who does the install. A licensed crew that answers for the warranty is not the same as day labor.
- The finish work. Stucco patch, caulk, interior trim and paint-ready returns, or a bare hole and a tube of silicone.
- Haul-away. Old sashes and frames have to go somewhere.
What comes back the other way
Impact windows are not only a storm expense. Three things usually offset part of it:
- Wind mitigation credit. Florida insurers discount the windstorm portion of a policy when all openings are protected. The amount is set by your insurer, not by us, and it needs a wind mitigation inspection, and we hand you the product documents for it.
- Lower cooling bills. Low-E impact glass blocks a large share of the solar heat that pours through single-pane windows, which the air conditioner was paying for.
- No shutters to hang. Shutters and panels cost money, need storage, and need somebody physically able to put them up. Impact glass is protection that is already in place when the forecast changes.
What our written price includes

One number, in writing, at the end of the free measure. It does not move afterwards.
Pricing questions
How much do impact windows cost in Fort Myers?
Most single windows land between $850 and $2,000 installed, with vinyl frames at the lower end and aluminum at the upper end. Large picture and custom-shape windows run $1,800 to $3,200. A whole house of 10 to 15 openings is usually $12,000 to $28,000. Those are market ranges for Lee County, not a quote.
Why is the range so wide?
Because an impact window is made to the opening. A small bathroom window and a 6-foot picture window over a pool deck are the same product category and nowhere near the same price. Size, frame material and the glass package together account for most of the spread.
Is vinyl or aluminum cheaper?
Vinyl is cheaper per window and insulates better. Aluminum costs more but carries larger glass with a slimmer frame, which is why it wins on big openings and water views. On a mixed house we often quote vinyl through the bedrooms and aluminum on the large front and rear openings.
Does the permit cost extra?
The permit fee is part of the written price we leave with you. Fort Myers, Lee County and the Village of Estero each set their own fee schedule, so the amount varies by address, but you will see it on the estimate rather than discovering it later.
Will impact windows pay for themselves?
Partly, and over years rather than months. Protecting every opening can qualify the home for a wind mitigation credit on the windstorm portion of your insurance, and Low-E impact glass cuts the heat load on the house. Neither is a figure we can promise, because it depends on your insurer and your home.
What should make me suspicious of a cheap quote?
A per-window price well under $800 in this market. At that number something is usually missing: the permit, the Florida product approval paperwork, licensed labor, or the stucco and trim work that puts the wall back together afterwards.
Do you charge for the estimate?
No. The in-home measure is free and there is no obligation. You keep the written price whether you use us or not.
